This work was created for the art flower exhibition "Cloth Flowers and Paintings," in which artificial flowers are made from cloth. The theme of the 2021 exhibition is a collaboration with painting, as the title suggests, and an art flower artist friend made flowers and painted them. With the theme of the growth of a girl and the flowers that accompany her, I created a series of 4 pieces titled "Girl's Praise Flower". This work is the third piece in it and is the coming-of-age ceremony. Furisode, hair ornaments, and a nice smile. Feelings seem to be directed towards the "future" and "outside world".

Jodai Watanabe, an artist from Ehime Prefecture, creates works based on the theme of "research and pursuit of line expressions, aesthetics of margins, and the spirit of wabi-sabi in Japanese comics that have evolved from Hokusai's ukiyo-e comics." He uses the expressions and techniques of Japanese manga to create works with female motifs.

This work, one of the works of "Shojo Sanka", depicts a 20-year-old girl wearing a long-sleeved kimono on the stage of the coming-of-age ceremony. Her profile, as if chatting with friends and family, seems to reflect a cheerful and bright future.

Jodai Watanabe's works often depict women and events that are familiar to us as motifs, and each work is very detailed, including facial expressions and clothing. It's so wonderful that I want to collect all the serial works such as "Shoujo Sanka".
